Wood filaments

Wood filaments – natural appearance, easy printing, and the unique effect of real wood

Wood filaments are special types of 3D printing materials that combine biodegradable PLA polymer with fine particles of real wood (e.g.

oak, beech, pine, or bamboo). This creates a material that prints as easily as classic PLA filaments, but the resulting print has the appearance, texture, and scent of natural wood.
These filaments are ideal for design, artistic, and decorative projects, where not only the shape but also the aesthetic and tactile impression is important.

Realistic wood texture and color

Thanks to the content of real wood fibers (usually 10–40%), prints made from wood filaments have a matte, natural surface and give off a slight wood scent during printing.

After printing, the prints can be sanded, stained, or varnished just like wood, allowing for perfect finishing work and model customization.
In addition, the color of the final print can also be influenced by adjusting the nozzle temperature – at a higher temperature, the filament darkens and acquires a burnt effect, which gives each model an original appearance.

Main properties of wood filaments:

  • Natural appearance and scent of real wood

  • Matte surface without visible layers

  • Easy printing like PLA

  • Can be sanded, varnished, and painted

  • Biodegradable and eco-friendly material

  • No synthetic odor – a pleasant wood scent during printing

  • Suitable for open printers without a heated chamber

Easy printing with professional results

Despite their natural appearance, wood filaments print without problems, because they are based on PLA polymer – the easiest material for 3D printing. It is enough to slightly adjust the nozzle settings and the printing speed to prevent the wood particles from burning.

Recommended printing parameters:

  • Nozzle temperature: 190–220 °C

  • Bed temperature: 40–60 °C (optional)

  • Nozzle: 0.5 mm or larger (prevents clogging by wood fibers)

  • Print speed: 40–60 mm/s

Due to the content of wood fibers, it is advisable to clean the nozzle after printing to prevent clogging.

Ideal for artists, designers, and decoration makers

Wood filaments are popular for printing statues, figurines, trophies, boxes, signs, furniture prototypes, or home accessories.

The prints have a warm, natural feel and, thanks to their texture, are often used as an alternative to real wood in design applications.
The material is also suitable for promotional items, architectural models, promotional samples, or gift packaging, where visual effect plays a key role.

An eco-friendly and aesthetically perfect material

Because it is a blend of PLA and natural wood fibers, wood filaments are environmentally friendly and biodegradable.

Their production is energy-efficient and free of toxic additives, making them an ideal choice for sustainable 3D printing.

Why choose wood filaments

  • Natural, warm appearance and a pleasant surface

  • Prints look like real wood

  • Processing options – grinding, drilling, varnishing

  • Eco-friendly material free of harmful substances

  • Suitable for creative and presentation projects

  • Simple printing with beautiful results

Creativity in its natural form

If you are looking for a filament that gives your models an authentic, wooden look, wood filaments are the right choice. They combine natural aesthetics with ease of printing and open up new possibilities for design, decoration, and artistic projects.

The Wood Filaments category represents a natural and eco-friendly way to create realistic 3D prints that both feel and look like real wood – warm, elegant, and unique in every detail.
