Verbatim dual-layer discs offer an impressive storage capacity of 8.5 GB (2.6 for 8cm discs). Dual-layer recording is possible due to the addition of a new substrate layer that separates both recording layers and allows laser beam recording on both layers. After recording data on the first layer, the laser focus is adjusted and recording proceeds to the second layer.
In addition to supporting the highest possible speeds, Verbatim media are also available with a printable surface. The colors printed on the surface of the disc are now as vibrant and bright as on the original. There are also media available with the option for wide printing, allowing the image to extend all the way to the central hole in the disc.
