HP adheres to its sustainability program

HP creates technology that improves life for people around the world. However, its goal is not only a broad portfolio of printers, toners, and other devices that deliver stunning experiences. HP aims to become the most sustainable company in the world.

Sustainability concerns us all

Twenty years ago, HP published its first environmental and social report on its impact on the environment. It did so because its philosophy is built on an idea that goes far beyond the boundaries of profit from the sale of printers, toners, and other assortment. Since its inception, HP has believed that by creating technologies that work in the service of humanity, it can create the right conditions for a better life for everyone.

The production, supply, and use of HP products, such as toners, cartridges, and others, require a significant amount of natural resources and energy. HP was the first global IT company to publish its full carbon footprint and one of the first to publish its complete water footprint. It continues to measure them while striving with all its might to improve them.

The global pandemic continues to cause problems around the world. The future of our planet is also significantly threatened by worsening climate change. Although these are serious challenges that will not be overcome so quickly, HP sees them as a kind of catalyst for change. Because only with courage and determination to overcome even seemingly insurmountable obstacles can an ambitious leap forward be made.

HP has firmly established sustainability goals

HP's new sustainability program through 2030 is designed to keep its employees continuously moving forward, as evidenced by the goals that have been set.

For example:

  • Efforts to achieve net-zero carbon emissions and greenhouse gas emissions across HP’s entire value chain by 2040, while reducing them by 50% by the end of this decade.
  • 75% circulation of products and packaging by 2030.
  • Zero deforestation for the production of paper and HP paper-based packaging.
  • Achieving 50/50 gender equality in HP's leadership and ensuring greater representation of women (more than 30%) in technical and engineering positions.
  • Meeting or exceeding labor market requirements for the representation of racial and ethnic minorities.
  • HP promotes digitalization for everyone.

HP promotes digitalization for everyone

Since digital technologies such as mobile phones, computers, printers, cartridges, and toners affect every aspect of human life, there is a real danger that more and more people will remain digitally illiterate. The company HP does not want to allow that to happen, so it will work to bridge the digital divide. This prevents many people from accessing the education, jobs, and healthcare they need. The company's goal is therefore to accelerate digital equality for 150 million people by 2030.

HP believes that the actions it is taking to address the most serious societal challenges will strengthen its community while also driving innovation and growth across its entire business.
